On-going Series: Variations

These circle drawings have been made since 2022. They explore the slight variations achieved in each completed drawing when using a set of rules, a method used in previous circles made from 2019 to 2021. However, with this series there is freedom to choose any concentric band width (before it was either one 0.5cm or 1cm depending on paper size). There is now a sole focus on graphite pencil rather than a mix of pencil and watercolour. There is also a conscious interest in light and dark, in silence and stillness.

Circle drawings 2022

There are 12 in this series, starting with Untitled 38 and ending with Untitled 49. Eight of these are shown here, running from 42 to 48. However, drawings 38 to 41 were sold before being photographed. They are drawn with pencil on Arches paper, size 50 x 35cm. Please click on each image for an enlarged view.
